Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry, Saudi ACWA Power to assess environmental impact of joint projects

The Azerbaijani Energy Ministry and the Saudi ACWA Power company began discussions on the project of construction of the Khizi-Absheron wind farm with an installed capacity of 240 MW in the Khizi and Absheron districts, the ministry told Trend.

According to the ministry, the discussions are also conducted on assessing its environmental impact.

The monitoring and assessment work will last four days (two days in each district), the ministry said.

On the first day of discussions, the staff of ACWA Power and its local partner - Ecoenergy LLC, as well as an international consultant on the environment and management - 5 Capitals company provided detailed information about the project, reviewed the documents on environmental impact assessment and answered questions from the meeting participants.

The project will be implemented on the Sitalchay river and in Pirakeshkul village of Absheron district.

In January 2020, a contract for the project was signed between the Ministry of Energy and ACWA Power, and in December of the same year - an investment agreement, an agreement for the sale and purchase of electricity and connection to the grids.
