Iran's Yazd TPP using combined cycle power units to generate most electricity

The Yazd Thermal Power Plant in the Yazd Province (central Iran) generated 2.83 million megawatt-hours of electricity, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through January 20, 2022), Managing Director of Yazd Power Generation Management Company Mohammad Hassan Jamaladdini said, Trend reports citing Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company’s website.

Jamaladdini stressed that of the mentioned volume, 2.5 million megawatt-hours were generated by combined cycle power units.

"Meanwhile, the remaining 335,000 megawatt-hours were generated by gas units," he said.

The director also pointed out that the Yazd TPP has fulfilled its plan for electricity generation for the reporting period by over 86 percent.

Iran's Yazd Thermal Power Plant has two gas units with a capacity to generate 162 megawatt-hours of electricity each, and one steam unit with a capacity to generate 160 megawatt-hours of electricity. In total, the thermal power plant can generate 484 megawatt-hours of electricity.
