Iran's Tehran Province's drinking water reserves decreases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. The drinking water reserves of the dams in Iran’s Tehran Province decreased by about 269 million cubic meters for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), an official of Tehran Regional Water Company Mohammad Shahriari said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.

The official said that currently, the drinking water reserves in 5 dams in Tehran Province are 500 million cubic meters.

“Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year, the figure stood at 770 million cubic meters,” he added.

According to Shahriari, the province has received about 11.2 millimeters of precipitation since the beginning of the current Iranian, which is a 76-percent decrease compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“Furthermore, there were 161.2 millimeters of precipitation recorded since the beginning of the current water year (September 23, 2021). This is a 25-percent decrease compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, the figure was 215 millimeters in the same period last Iranian year,” the official noted.
