BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. Iran has started supplying gas to 102 villages in North Khorasan Province in north-east of the country, Executive Director of Iran's North Khorasan Gas Company Mahmoud Hashemi said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.
Hashemi noted that a total of 454 km long pipelines will be built to supply the mentioned villages with gas. As a result, 952 families will be able to use gas.
The director also added that the supplying villages with gas will lead to the development of agriculture and animal husbandry. It will also result in a decrease in the migration of rural residents to cities.
“So far, 100 percent of cities and 99.6 percent of villages in North Khorasan Province have been supplied with gas,” he said.
In general, 1,216 cities and 34,884 villages in Iran were supplied with gas till February 2022. In other words, more than 98 percent of Iranian cities and about 84 percent of the country’s villages were equipped with gas.
