BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. The electricity generation of Iran’s Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant in the North Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran), decreased by 57 percent for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the 12th month of the last year (February 20 through March 20, 2023), head of the power plant Reza Marjanzadeh said, Trend reports referring to Iranian Energy Ministry.
Marjanzadeh noted that the Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant generated more than 259,000 megawatt-hours of electricity for the first month, while the figure stood at over 407,000 megawatt-hours in the 12th month.
“Of the mentioned 259,000 megawatt-hours of electricity, 227,000 tons megawatt-hours were generated by gas units, while over 32,000 megawatt-hours – by steam units,” he added.
The director said that the efficiency of the Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant for the 1st month was more than 37.6 percent.
Marjanzadeh also pointed out that the electricity generation capacity of the power plant exceeded 597,000 megawatt-hours during the reporting month.
According to him, currently, gas units No. 1, 2, 5, 6 and steam units No. 1, 2 and 3 of the station are being repaired.
Iran’s Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant can generate a total of 1,114 megawatt-hours of electricity. The power plant has 6 gas units with a generation capacity of 159 megawatt-hours each, and 3 steam units with a generation capacity of 160 megawatt-hours each.
There are currently 616 power units operating in 134 TPPs in Iran. The power generation capacity of the country's thermal power plants is 74,198 megawatt-hours.
At present, the power generation capacity of Iran's all power plants including, thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, etc. is approximately 91,000 megawatt-hours. Of this, 82 percent are accounted for by the country’s thermal power plants.
Overall, Iran’s thermal power plants generated approximately 333 million megawatt-hours of electricity over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 3 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
