BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 13. The South Caucasus Pipeline has increased gas transportation from 10.236 billion cubic meters in the first half of 2022 to 10.915 billion cubic meters in the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
As such, the pipeline’s transportation grew by 6.6 percent year-on-year.
Overall, the State Statistical Committee estimates that the main gas pipelines of Azerbaijan transported 20.797 billion cubic meters in the first six months of 2023, showing a 4.5 percent increase year-on-year.
The South Caucasus Pipeline accounted for 52.5 percent of this volume.
This is while from January through June 2022, the main pipelines supplied 19.898 billion cubic meters of gas, up by 16.6 percent as compared to 2021. Around 51.4 percent of gas or 10.235 billion was transported via the South Caucasus Pipeline.
The SCP has been operational since late 2006, transporting Shah Deniz gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye. The expanded section of the pipeline commenced commercial deliveries to Türkiye in June 2018 and to Europe in December 2020.
SCPC shareholders are: bp (operator – 29.99%), SGC (21.02%), LUKOIL (19.99%), TPAO (19.00%) and NICO (10.00%).
