BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 23. The gas transportation via the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), or Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, exceeded 16.4 billion cubic meters (bcm) from January through September 2023, compared to the same period in 2022 (15.2 bcm), Trend reports.
The data from the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan showed that this figure grew by 7.8 percent year-on-year.
The SCP accounted for 54.8 percent of gas transported through Azerbaijan's main gas pipelines in the first nine months of 2023, compared to 53.3 percent for the same period in 2022.
Meanwhile, 29.9 bcm of gas was transported through Azerbaijan's main gas pipelines, which is 5.08 percent more than last year.
The SCP has been operational since late 2006, transporting Shah Deniz gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye. The expanded section of the pipeline commenced commercial deliveries to the latter country in June 2018 and to Europe in December 2020.
SCP shareholders are: bp (29.99 percent), SGC (21.02%), LUKOIL (19.99 percent), TPAO (19 percent), and NICO (10 percent).
