STAR Refinery sees slight uptick in oil supply volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. In August 2023, the STAR oil refinery, operated by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, received 918,225 tons of oil, Trend reports citing the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

This amount represents a marginal increase of 0.03 percent when compared to the 917,953 tons supplied during the same period in 2022.

According to the EPDK report, the refinery produced various petroleum products during this period, including approximately 512,251 tons of diesel fuel, 8,116 tons of biodiesel-containing diesel fuel, 163,991 tons of aviation fuel, 4,924 tons of other intermediate products, 129,764 tons of other products, 16,394 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 143,610 tons of naphtha, 75,670 tons of petroleum coke, 41,764 tons of refinery gas, and 27,733 tons of high sulfur diesel.

The STAR oil refinery, with an investment value of $6.3 billion, commenced operations in October 2018. Approximately $3.3 billion of the project's cost was covered by loans, and the total investment in the STAR refinery is expected to reach $7 billion. The facility boasts an annual refining capacity of about 10 million tons and can process 214 thousand barrels of crude oil per day.
