Russia signals readiness to hold gas supply talks with Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 8. Russian President Vladimir Putin considers it expedient to hold consultations with Turkmenistan on gas supplies, Trend reports.

Touching upon the issue of Russia's gas supplies to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan, Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of holding consultations with Turkmenistan, since its connection will have common interests for all countries in the region.

Putin reminded that he, along with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the leader of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took part in the ceremony of the start of Russian natural gas supplies to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan on October 7 this year.

Furthemore, he noted that this route will allow the most efficient use of the existing gas transmission networks, will contribute to the development not only of the participating countries, but also of the entire Central Asian region.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Turkmenistan's Turkmengaz State Concern, Myrat Archayev, announced at the end of October that it is expected that the volume of Turkmen gas supplies to Russia for the whole of 2023 will amount to about 5 billion cubic meters, as stipulated by the previously concluded contract with Gazprom PJSC.
