BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 9. Iran’s Aghajari Oil and Gas Production Company (AOGPC) has increased its daily crude oil production by 23,000 barrels, after restoring 16 oil wells in some of its oil fields, said Kurush Mohammadi, an official of the company, Trend reports.
Mohammadi mentioned that the company had faced a decline in production due to US sanctions, lack of equipment, and asphaltene deposits in oil wells.
The official added that the company had performed 72 operations on 29 oil wells over 430 days to revive 16 of them.
He also said that the company was working on reopening the wells in the Rag-Sefid oil field.
The AOGPC is a subsidiary of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC). The company has eight oil fields: Aghajari, Karanj, Paranj, Parsi, Ramshir, Rag Sefid, Pazanan and Marun. The company extracts about 615,000 barrels of light and heavy crude oil daily from these fields and produces more than 27.8 million cubic meters of gas per day.
On May 8, 2018, the US withdrew from the JCPOA and imposed new sanctions on Iran as of November 2018, affecting its oil exports and freezing its assets abroad. More than 700 banks, companies, and individuals were also targeted by the sanctions.
