Capex, opex on South Caucasus Pipeline show uptick

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. In 2023, the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCPC) spent around $77.7 million in operating expenditure and about $13.8 million in capital expenditure in total, as compared to $72 million and $5 million in 2022, respectively, Trend reports with reference to bp.

As such, the opex and capex on SCP rose by 7.9 percent and 2.8 times, respectively year-on-year.

During the year, the daily average export throughput of the SCP was 60.1 million cubic metres of gas per day, as compared to 57.4 million cubic metres in 2022, showing 4.7 percent increase.

The SCP has been operational since late 2006, transporting Shah Deniz gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye. The expanded section of the pipeline commenced commercial deliveries to Türkiye in June 2018 and to Europe in December 2020.

SCPC shareholders are: bp (operator – 29.99%), SGC (21.02%), LUKOIL (19.99%), TPAO (19.00%) and NICO (10.00%).
