BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. The implementation of the Paris Agreement is lagging behind, the director of the East European and Central Asian office of the International Labor Organization, Mikhail Pouchkin, said at an international conference on “Climate Change and Just Transition: The Role and Actions of Trade Unions” in Baku today, Trend reports.

“There is a backlog in the implementation of the Paris Agreement, and climate change must be actively confronted. No country can tackle these challenges alone. In addition, there are also some delays in trade union action in this area. This requires closer cooperation at the international level as well as mobilization of all stakeholders. Only coordinated action can lead to the desired results,” he said.

To note, COP29 in Baku will discuss the issue of increasing climate finance to $150 billion (currently developed countries, under the Paris Agreement, have pledged to mobilize $100 billion annually to support climate action in developing countries).
