Representatives of LUKoil Overseas Holding Ltd. confirmed their intention to drill the second exploratory well at promising block D-222 (В"YalamaВ"), reportedly said Rovnag Abdullayev, president of SOCAR.
He said LUKoil intends to commence drilling in early 2007.
Oil industry experts told Trend that the most effective drilling at Yalama might
be performed from drilling rig named after Heydar Aliyev (former Lider), which belongs to Maersk of Denmark.
At present LUKoils experts are reinterpreting data obtained from drilling first exploratory well at D-222.
LUKoil did not reveal any significant hydrocarbons reserves while drilling this well. The well was drilled from rig named after Heydar Aliyev to the depth 4,500 m at sea depth in drilling point some 332 m. Some gas showing was marked in the process of drilling.
Agreement on exploration, development and sharing in promising Azeri block D-222 was concluded between SOCAR and LUKoil July 3, 1997.
