Р'Р has proposed to SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) to view all possible alternatives on receiving gas volumes for Azerbaijan prior to the development of Phase 2 of the project Shakhdaniz (2012) as much as possible, David Woodward, President of BP Azerbaijan told, Trend reports.
The Company does not have any concrete proposals concerning measures, capacities, and production volumes of additional gas. However, we are jointly working to view the possibility on receiving additional gas in order that Azerbaijan could provide its domestic gas needs till 2012, he pointed out.
An associated gas from the field Azeri is considered as one of the alternatives of that. However, it should be remembered that the Company is about to inject it into the reservoir. If that is not carried out, then the oil production will fall down.
Injecting gassers using up-to-date technologies on the shallow water section of the field Gunashli being developed by SOCAR itself is another alternative. That will allow to increase the gas production.
Another variant is a deep gas in deeper reservoirs of the Azeri-Chiragh-Gunashli field. We could speed up the production of this gas, pointed out Mr. Woodward. Р'Р proposed to the Government to implement full scale development of this gas. However, the part of it might be produced either in 2008 or in 2009, he added.
