BP Azerbaijan is about to put into commission the second pre-drilling well on Azerbaijan offshore gas condensate filed Shahdaniz in the next year, Trend reports. Simultaneously with preparatory works for the launch of the second well, BP Azerbaijan is carrying out works on the first pre-drilling well. Oil production on the first pre-drilling well was suspended in the second decade of December, 2006 due to technical reasons.
According to the sources, gas escape was detected in the well. The terms on the elimination of the problems will depend on the volume of the work and alternatives of their implementation.
Gas production on the first well was launched on December 15. The daily production rate of the well is 5,6 mln. cubic meters. At the same time, gas condensate is produced from the field at the volume of 2,500 tons per day.
8,6 bln. cubic meters of gas is expected to be produced on the stage of plateau within Stage 1 of the development of Shahdaniz field. 5,4-5,6 bln. cubic meters are expected to be produced from the field in 2007.
