Azerbaijani Government to Introduce New Tariffs for Electricity

Oil&Gas Materials 8 May 2007 17:00 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Government will consider the possibility of introducing new tariffs for electric energy during 2007, since all subscribers have been provided with electric meters and the structure of consumption has been defined. For this reason the busy schedule of the energy system will be analyzed. Analysis of the busy daily schedule in Azerbaijan in 2005 displayed that the ratio between the minimum overload at night and maximum overload in the evening comprised 1.8-1.9 times. The same situation is observed in the difference of overload in summer and winter months.

The government suggests making up the busy schedule on the basis of a tree-axis frame of reference by analyzing the dynamics of change on the schedule during a day and a season.

With the new tariffs it will be possible to regulate the demand for peak power through appliance of flexible tariffs. Introduction of flexible tariffs will balance the dynamics of electric overload during a day and a season.

The reduction of difference between overload will lead to the increase of a coefficient utilization of power and decrease fuel consumption. The need to construct new electricity power stations will decrease and the structure of consumption of electric energy will be optimized.

Recommendations will be submitted to the Council of Tariffs in the near future.
