Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Aliyev / Tagi Ahmadov, the head of Baku Metro, stated on 13 June that a meeting of the International 'Metro' Association of CIS countries will be held on 8 November in Baku.
The International Association 'Metro' was founded in February, 1992.
The Association is a member of the International Society Transport Union (ISTU) and has the right to attend all international meetings of the Metro Committee of the ISTU, as well as other international meetings held by ISTU.
Presently, the members of the Association are the Russian Subway and CIS countries ( Moscow, St Petersburg, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Nizhni Novgorod, Tbilisi, Tashkent, Baku, Yerevan, Kiev, Kharkov, Dnipropetrovs'k and Minsk) Metro, as well as closed joint stock company Metrovagonmash, closed joint stock company Dinamo Plus, closed joint stock company Vagonmash and open joint stock company Krukov Wagon Works (Ukraine).
The function of the Association is attached to strengthening relations among the Subways of Russia and CIS countries, as well as exchange of experience, development of technique documents and discussion of legislative initiatives and bills, regarding the function of the metro.
