Greece Interested in Annual Supply of 2bln cu m of gas from Azerbaijan: Greek Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / Dimitris Sioufas, the Greek Minister for Development, stated in Baku on 2 August that Greece is interested in annual gas supplies from Azerbaijan to the volume of 2bln cu m.

State and private companies of Greece which are specialized in this field, may also visit Azerbaijan and sign agreements with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan on gas purchases. DEPA company is on of them.

On 2 August Azerbaijan and Greece signed a Memorandum on Cooperation in the oil and gas fields. Heydar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Minister for Economic Development, announced that Greek companies have opportunities to participate in the development of oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan.

The memorandum signed in Baku lays a foundation of this cooperation. The document envisages not only gas deliveries, but also of co-operation in the oil sector, he added.

This co-operation is a topic of intergovernmental commission which is co-chaired by the Azerbaijani Minister. Further opportunities for bilateral relations in the oil and gas sector, research into existing opportunities, as well as the development of proposals on transportation and supply will be discussed at a sub-commission to be established within the framework of an intergovernmental commission on cooperation in the fields of economy, industry and technology.
