Output of finished metal products grows in Azerbaijan

From January through September 2019, the volume of production in the metallurgical industry in Azerbaijan amounted to 399.09 million manat ($235.172 million), decreasing by 14.6 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports referring to the country's State Statistical Committee.

The production of finished metal products increased by 78.1 percent, amounting to 176.3 million manat ($103.9 million); accordingly, the overall growth in the industry increased by 32 percent, amounting to 575.369 million manat ($339.118 million).

In total, from January through September 2019, 249,300 tons of steel were smelted in Azerbaijan (a decrease by 19.1 percent). Furthermore, 224,600 tons of fittings (a decrease by 7.9 percent), 30,900 tons of steel pipes (a decrease of 17.7 percent), 5,700 tons of wire rod (an increase of 29.1 percent) and 516.3 tons of rods, shafts and profiles (a decrease of 14.7 percent) were produced.

The production of primary alloys of raw aluminum decreased by 11.4 percent to 26,400 tons.

In the reporting period, prefabricated building constructions made of ferrous metals worth 20.5 million manat ($12.083 million) were manufactured (an increase of 69.8 percent) and 17,600 tons of other structures made of ferrous metals were produced (an increase of three times). The production of flexible wires, cables and bare cables made of copper amounted to 3,520 tons, showing a decline of more than two times.
