The annual meeting of Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be held in Georgia in May 2021, said Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Matchavariani, Trend reports referring to Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
The decision was made by ADB’s Board of Governors.
Matchavariani noted that in 2015, an annual meeting of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was held in Tbilisi and was very important for the country.
"The annual meeting of the ADB is much larger than the annual meeting of the EBRD both in terms of the number of participants and the events that will take place within its framework,” said the minister.
According to him, a special delegation will come to Georgia from the head office of the bank to conduct preparatory work for organizing the event.
ADB has supported Georgia since 2007 and is one of the country’s largest multilateral development partners. Sovereign and non-sovereign loans to Georgia to date total about $2.8 billion.
