Amount of overdue loans decrease in Georgia

Overdue loans in Georgia in June 2020 decreased by 6.9 million lari ($2.2 million), compared to May 2020 and amounted to 499.3 million lari ($163.06 million), Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

According to the NBG, the share of overdue loans in the loan portfolio of commercial banks amounted to 1.4 percent.

Some 35.8 percent of overdue loans are denominated in national currency. During the reporting period, the level of dollarization of the entire loan portfolio decreased by 1.1 percentage points to 56.5 percent.

In June, remittances from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased significantly year-on-year (by 183 percent).

According to the National Bank, remittances from EU countries in the reporting month increased by 23.9 percent in general. This is due to an increase in transfers from Italy - by 38.8 percent, Greece - by 16.5 percent, Germany - by 62.9 percent.

In the region, remittances increased from Turkey. An increase is also noted from Ukraine, while from Russia, on the contrary, a decrease is observed. Remittances from Israel increased by 3.6 percent, from the United States - by 31.1 percent.
