Amount of loans issued by Iranian banks soars

The number of loans issued by Iranian banks in various economic sectors increased by 46.6 percent during first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of Central bank Of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, Iranian banks issued loans worth about 2.74 quadrillion rials (about $65.2 billion) in various economic sectors in the two months. While in the same period Iranian year, that figure amounted to 871 trillion rials (about $20.7 billion).

"So, the banks issued 139 trillion rials (about $3.3 billion) worth of loans in the agricultural sector within the mentioned period," the statistics said.

Moreover, the banks issued loans worth 868 trillion rials (about $20.6 billion) in Iran's industrial and mining sectors over the two months, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the banks also issued loans worth 118 trillion rials (about $2.81 billion) in Iran's housing and construction sector during the reporting period.

"Furthermore, the Iranian banks issued loans worth 426 trillion rials (about $10.1 billion) in the trade sector in the two months," the statistics said.

At the same time, 1.18 quadrillion rials (about $28.2 billion) worth of loans were issued in the services sector and 1.34 trillion rials (about $31.9 billion) in other unmentioned areas over the first two months of the current Iranian year, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the loans are provided for the establishment of enterprises and facilities, as working capital, repair work, development, purchase of personal assets, purchase of apartments, and so on.
