BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 10. It is forecasted that there will be no budget deficit in Iran for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ehsan Khandouzi said at a press conference in Tehran on January 10, 2023, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to Khandouzi, Iranian government’s general budget revenues amounted to 9.2 quadrillion rials (about $219 billion), during the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022). This shows 88 percent of the revenues reflected in the budget bill come true.

The minister also added that budget revenues increased by 63 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Paying attention to next year's budget bill (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), Khandouzi noted that reserves and expenses in next year's budget are predicted to be 19.8 quadrillion rials (about $471 billion). According to the next year’s budget bill, the minimum monthly salary of government employees is to be 70 million rials (about $1,666), and a cash subsidy payment - 3.6 quadrillion rials (about $85.7 billion).

In 2001, some of the subsidies applied to certain products, including fuel and foodstuffs, water and electricity, were abolished in Iran. Instead, the subsidy is paid in cash to the citizens on a monthly basis.

Iran's budget bill for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023) amounting to 36.3 quadrillion rials (about 864 billion dollars) was approved by the country's parliament.

According to the budget bill, the total budget revenues of the Iranian government are foreseen at 15 quadrillion rials (about $358 billion) and the revenues of state-owned companies, state-owned enterprises and banks at 22.3 quadrillion rials (about $531 billion).
