Azerbaijan sees growth in local banks' loan portfolio

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. Azerbaijani banks' loan portfolio grew by 16.31 percent and reached 22.28 billion manat ($13.1 billion) as of September 30, 2023, year-on-year, Trend reports.

The data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) showed that this indicator amounted to 19.1 billion manat ($11.2 billion) as of September 30, 2022.

In the structure of the banks' loan portfolio, the share of business loans amounted to 54.2 percent (12.07 billion manat, which is $7.1 billion, up 12.04 percent over the year), consumer loans at 29.98 percent (6.68 billion manat, which is $3.9 billion, up 19.25 percent over the year), and mortgage loans at 15.82 percent (3.5 billion manat, which is $2 billion, up 26.97 percent over the year).

The total assets of banks in Azerbaijan exceeded 45.5 billion manat ($26.7 billion), total liabilities were 39.5 billion manat ($23.2 billion), and total capital was 5.5 billion manat ($3.2 billion) as of September 30, 2023.

Moreover, the CBA data showed that assets, liabilities, and capital of the banking sector increased by 4.35; 3.27, and 11.57 percent, respectively, year-on-year.
