Azercell Concludes Roaming Agreement with Two African Operators

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / Azercell Telecom JV have put into operation international roaming service with the Tunisian operator Tunisie Telecom and South AfricanCellC.

This is the second roaming agreement with a Tunisianmobile company and the third one with a South African cellular communications company. Azercell subscribers are also able to use the services of the Tunisian operator Orascom Telecom Tunisie and South African operators Vodacom and MTN.

Azercell has concluded 340 roaming agreements with mobile communication operators from 140countries of the world.

The number of subscribers exceeds 2.5mln. The company covers 78% of the territory and 99% of the population of Azerbaijan with its mobile communications network. The company has roaming agreements with 300 operators.

Azercell JSC was established on 19 January 1996 by Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Telecommunications.

Azercell Telekom is a joint venture of the Azerbaijani Telecommunications and IT Ministry (35.7%) and Fintur Holdings BV (64.3 %), with 58.55% belonging to TeliaSonera and 41.45% to Turkcell.
