Azerbaijan partake ITU meeting on orbital frequency

Azerbaijan participates in the meeting of the Working Group of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Study Commission on the rational application of planned and unplanned orbital frequency resources, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry Radio Frequency Department reported.

The main purpose of the meeting is to coordinate satellites, carried out by the administration, review of proposals to amend the rules for registration and other procedures, exchange of views on the allocation of additional frequency bands for satellites.

ITU offered three international orbital spaces to Azerbaijan to launch its own satellites. Of which two are local and one is an international. Azerbaijan is planning to launch two communications satellites.

The cost of the AzerSpace communications satellite is $200 million.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree on creation of cosmic industry and launch of communications satellite in November 2008. The geographical location of Azerbaijan between Europe and Asia make its necessary to launch telecommunications satellite, which is the main component of economic and information safety.
