Azerbaijan reveals terms of launching 2nd telecom satellite

The second telecommunications satellite of Azerbaijan, Azerspace-2/Intelsat-38, is expected to be launched in April-May 2018, Azercosmos OJSC told Trend on Dec. 6.

The company said the work on the satellite production is practically completed and the launch vehicle is being prepared.

The satellite will be launched from the launch complex located in the Kourou space center using the Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle.

The French company Arianespace, which earlier launched Azerbaijan's first satellite Azerspace/Africasat-1a, will send the Azerspace-2/Intelsat-38 satellite into orbit.

Azerspace-2/Intelsat-38 will be placed in a geostationary orbit 45 degrees east longitude. The zone of its service will include the countries of Europe, Central and South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The satellite manufacturer is Space Systems Loral (SSL), which is also a provider of satellite control systems.
