By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

In Azerbaijan, 16 percent of corporate users are subjected to cyber attacks online, Sergey Zemkov, managing director of Kaspersky Lab Inc in Russia and the CIS, told Trend.

“Moreover, 19 percent of corporate users are subjected to cyber attacks online in Russia and Kazakhstan, while 23 percent in Belarus,” Zemkov added.

"Of course, the low indicator for Azerbaijan testifies that corporate users in the country are better protected,” he said. “They are better prepared. The companies are actively working to improve their security level. Unfortunately, the level of piracy is high in the personal segment and in the segment of small and medium business.”

The country obtains almost all internet traffic via the backbone network of Delta Telecom company.

"That is, it is possible to control active web threats at the internal level,” Zemkov said. “For example, there are no web threats at all in Turkmenistan as the country is isolated from the global network.”

He said that the details of cooperation with the public sector and business were discussed as part of last year's visit of the Kaspersky Lab's management to Azerbaijan.

"We have an agreement on the supply of our products to SOCAR, although it is difficult to talk about concrete projects,” Zemkov said. “We have very good relations with the banking sector in Azerbaijan. There were a lot of precedents with attacks on banks in 2017. We conducted security audits with banks. After we helped them, many of them chose our products. If we talk about the sectors that are most subjected to cyber attacks, it is primarily the financial sector, the public sector, energy and the telecommunications sector."
