Smart Systems Technology, an Azerbaijani IT company, has launched its own OTT (Over the Top) service, General Director of the company Firudin Akbarov told Trend on Jan. 31.
Over the top (OTT) is a term used to refer to content providers that distribute streaming media as a standalone product directly to viewers over the Internet, bypassing telecommunications, multichannel television, and broadcast television platforms that traditionally act as a controller or distributor of such content.
Akbarov noted that the new technology allows access to viewing television content without the need for digital decoders.
"To view TV content, users need to download the ODTV app. This app is fully functional for devices running the Android and iOS operating systems. The app is also available in Samsung and LG app stores. That is, owners of SMART TVs will only need to download ODTV and get a login and password to watch TV," Akbarov said.
A TV package consisting of 124 channels is available for users. The monthly subscription fee for using the service is 10 manats. The subscription fee can be paid via eManat payment terminals and on the hesab.az web portal.
