Visa International has launched the technical work on using contactless payments in Azerbaijan, a source in the Azerbaijani financial market told Trend.
The new service will be launched for general use in the next two months.
"After launching this service, users will be able to make payments from mobile phones via SamsungPay and GooglePay," the source added.
The contactless payments are carried out via the vast majority of POS terminals installed in the country.
This means that clients of foreign banks coming to Azerbaijan and being users of SamsungPay and GooglePay can make payments via POS terminals.
Apple's permission is required for ApplePay to work in the country. MasterCard, Visa International or other payment systems cannot affect this process.
However, the launch of ApplePay in Azerbaijan is a matter of time.
The permission may be obtained before launching SamsungPay and GooglePay, which will allow implementing ApplePay simultaneously.
