Speed of internet increases in Tashkent thanks to Uzbektelecom

The technical service of UzMobile, a branch of Uzbektelecom, has successfully completed work within the project on modernization and expansion of mobile network, as well as on expanding LTE (4G) coverage band in Tashkent city, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan.

As a result of the modernization, the speed of access to the LTE Internet standard has increased several times.

The main purpose of this project is to convert all existing 2G/3G base stations to LTE (4G) standard, which will increase the speed and availability of mobile broadband access services for UzMobile subscribers.

Since the beginning of the year planned work on modernization of all operating base stations to LTE (4G) technology in Bekabad, Bukin, Piskent, Ahangaran, Orta Chirchiq, Kuyichi, Akkurgan, Chinaz and Yangiyul districts have been completed.

Work on expansion and modernization of the network is planned in all regions of the country as part of the planned project, the message said.

Recently, Uzbekistan added seven positions in Ookla's Speedtest Global Index ranking, increasing the speed of the fixed Internet to 26.92 Mbit/s.
