Students in Uzbekistan create universal robot-assistant

Students of Turin Polytechnic University in Uzbekistan have created a 'NovAssistant' robot, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Innovation Development of Uzbekistan.

This is the first project implemented with the support of specialists from the laboratory of robotics, organized in the new building of the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan.

“The creation of the universal robot-assistant can help facilitate everyday tasks in areas such as medicine, business, education and tourism. The assistant robot can not only communicate, but also express emotions and be an effective assistant in the office or home,” the message said.

According to ministry, at the customer's request, it is possible to add additional functions to the robot such as artificial intelligence and face recognition system. In addiction, the robot can be controlled through an application or by voice of it's owner.

In the future, the Ministry plans to achieve a reduction in imports and an increase in domestic production development in robotics.

“The average cost of such robots abroad is 180 million soum ($17,565). Uzbek robot-assistants will cost about 25-45 million soum (about $2,400-4,400), depending on the configuration,” the message said.
