The stay of the majority of the Azerbaijani population at home due to the coronavirus-related quarantine and organizing a distance learning process significantly increased the demand for Internet services, the country’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies told Trend.
According to the ministry, taking into account the threat of the third wave, Aztelecom LLC under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies is gradually carrying out all the necessary work to ensure the stability and quality of Internet connections in the districts of Azerbaijan to meet customer demand for telecommunications services even in the case of a possible extension of distance learning and remote work of employees in different areas.
Measures are being taken to increase the existing capacity and create a linear network in order to provide telecommunication services to new houses and expanding territories in villages and towns where there is a communication network, as well as new settlements, the ministry added.
“Along with this, in order to increase the range and volume of services provided under the current network modernization project, the existing copper cable lines are being replaced with fiber-optic ones, the GPON technology (Gigabyte Passive Optical Network) is being introduced,” the ministry further said.
The appeals of citizens from all districts of Azerbaijan to the service areas of the ministry are registered, and in this direction, work is underway to provide residents with telephone and Internet services.
