Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education used an Iranian-made 'Simorgh' supercomputer in connection with coronavirus issues last week, Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi said in a meeting in Hormozgan Province, Trend reports citing the IRNA.
According to Azari Jahromi, the Simorgh supercomputer is considered one of Iran's most important achievements in the field of computer science.
The minister added that by entering a large amount of data into this computer, it can be used accurately in strategic and important areas of Iran. This computer will be well used in the digital economy.
“The development of the digital economy is currently very important for Iran, given the investments of different countries,” he said.
Azari Jahromi stressed that countries around the world have made huge investments in the digital economy. Many global companies operate in the digital economy. The Brand companies also operate in this area in Iran.
The minister noted that the government should create the necessary infrastructure for the development of the digital economy. The Iranian Ministry of Information and Communications Technology has developed various platforms in this regard.
In order to develop artificial intelligence, Iran has produced a supercomputer called 'Simorgh'. As reported, it is one of the 500 supercomputers in the world. The speed of the Simorgh supercomputer is 160 teraflops (FLOPS) and can exchange 160 trillion data per second. In the next stage, it is planned to increase its speed to the petaflop. In Iran, this computer will be used for artificial intelligence, data circulation, weather forecasting, geology, seismology, analysis of genetic data.
