Iran's launches supercomputer

Iran's Simorgh supercomputer has been launched from today on May 16, Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi wrote on his Twitter page, Trend reports.

The minister stressed that Iran's development in the field of supercomputers will continue rapidly. So, the making of another supercomputer, which has potential 100 times more than the Simorgh supercomputer has begun today.

Azari Jahromi added that the new supercomputer will be named "Maryam" in memory of Iranian scientist Maryam Mirzakhani.

As reported, the data exchange capacity of the Iranian-made Simorgh supercomputer will be 0.5 petaflops. It is expected that the data exchange capacity of the super-computer will increase to 1 petaflop (1 quadrillion data per second) over the next two months. In Iran, this computer will be used for artificial intelligence, data circulation, weather forecasting, geology, seismology, analysis of genetic data.
