BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. Last week it became known that the laying of an underwater fiber optic communication line (FOCL) in Caspian Sea will commence in 2023, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bagdat Musin said at the "ICTWeek Uzbekistan 2022" event in Samarkand, Trend reports.

The project will provide the regional countries with alternative internet access, as well as expand the Europe-Asia traffic. The project design is currently in progress, which will be followed by relevant studies and the FOCL laying along the bottom of the Caspian Sea. The cable length will exceed 340 kilometers, while the redundant channel running from Kazakhstan's Kuryk Port to Buzovna (near Baku) will be around 330 kilometers.

In addition, the updated version of 3D Secure payment authorization has been launched since October 2022. The updated method of confirming payments has already been integrated by all banks of Azerbaijan and CBA is carrying out all the necessary work to ensure the security of payments.

Also last week Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan reached agreement on cooperation in the field of digital economy and technology, conducting joint research, organizing trainings and events, implementing joint initiatives and projects on digitalization and financial technologies.

Moreover, in accordance with an agreement between Azercosmos Space Agency of Azerbaijan and SUPARCO Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission signed memorandum of understanding, both sides aim at cooperation in the field of space science, technology and solutions, capacity building and exchange of experience.
