BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 8. The most common target of cybercriminals are the elderly, as well as small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), Mushvig Mammadov, Kaspersky Lab’s official representative in Azerbaijan, told Trend.

According to the representative, certain part of the elder generation is not very informed on the basic rules of cybersecurity.

"I also would like to note that the elder generation, as practice shows, is more gullible and willing to pass their payment card data, SMS codes, security codes to a third party, which eventually leads to loss of funds. Younger audience, due to the fact that it is more tech-savvy, is more informed and less vulnerable to possible risks," Mammadov said.

Speaking about the corporate sector, he said that SMEs are most exposed to cyber attacks.

"The budget of these companies for information security solutions is limited or non-existent. All this, certainly, creates risks and leads to cyber incidents. On the other hand, even if large companies allocate a large amount of funds to protect their digital environment, this does not mean that they are fully protected. Clearly, cybercriminals are interested in large companies, since these companies operate with great funds. Taking all this into calculation, big companies introduce advanced solutions to prevent cyber attacks, the loss of their data, as well as to retain their reputation and customers," Mammadov added.
