BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3. Azercosmos Space Agency of Azerbaijan has installed a 7.3-meter-high ground station antenna (S/X band) of the Chinese Emposat company in Baku, Trend reports.
According to the agency, the unique and advantageous location of the ground station, which has a large area and currently operates with more than 15 antennas, opens up opportunities for the installation of business infrastructures of global companies in Azerbaijan.
In addition, Azerbaijan’s Azercosmos and China's Emposat have signed a business contract to provide hosting services. As part of this agreement, Emposat, through Azercosmos, will expand the role of Azerbaijan in the distribution of communication services in the local market.
Azercosmos Space Agency, which has a Tier 4 international certificate, provides not only monitoring and management services for signals received from satellites, but also services such as hosting, installation, operation and maintenance of ground stations owned by global companies.
The Emposat antenna system is the second successful business infrastructure in Azerbaijan. This company installed its 4.2-meter S/X band aerial antenna at the Space Communications Center in Baku two years ago. It became possible to provide services for tracking between satellites and satellite networks, checking the operability of satellites, receiving telemetry and monitoring satellites due to this infrastructure.
Emposat will be presented at the 74th International Astronautical Congress in Baku in October 2023.
