Turkey eyes to increase tourism revenues - ministry

Turkey intends to increase tourism revenues to $32 billion by the end of this year, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism told Trend May 14.

In the first quarter of 2018, Turkey was visited by 7.263 million tourists, according to the ministry.

“Turkey’s revenues from tourism amounted to $4.425 billion in the first quarter of this year,” the ministry said.

Turkey has huge tourism potential - in April 2018 alone, the tourist province of Antalya was visited by over 1.9 million foreign tourists, according to the ministry.

“The number of tourists who visited the province of Antalya in April this year was 76 percent more than in the same month of 2017,” the ministry said.

The ministry also noted that the number of tourists from Russia who visited Antalya province in April this year was 51 percent more than in the same month of 2017.
