The volume of imported products via Shahid Beheshti (also called Chabahar port) port of Chabahar county in Sistan and Baluchestan province (southeastern Iran) increased by 188 percent during 2 months of the current Iranian year (March 20-May 20, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, said said Behrouz Aghaei, director general of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization's branch in Sistan and Baluchestan, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to Aghaei, 541,000 tons of essential products have been imported into the country through this port over two months.

The official said that 264,000 tons of imported products were sent directly to the intended locations in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Aghaei added that this year, 800 trucks loaded with essential products left the port per a day and this is considered a record in the port.

"Because the port has modern equipment, entrepreneurs and property owners pay more attentioni," he said.

About 186,000 tons of products were imported, 5,400 tons of transit products and 141,000 tons of products were transported through the Iranian port of Shahid Beheshti in the first month (March 20 through April 19).
