Kazakhstan resuming flights on more int'l routes

Kazakhstan has expanded the list of the countries to resume the flights with, Trend reports with reference to the official website of coronavirus situation in Kazakhstan.

Thus, Kazakhstan has expanded the list of 1 and 2 categories of countries for operation of the international flights.

Kazakhstan has introduced the categories division of countries for flights operation in Mar. 2020. Each category oversees rules for undergoing the quarantine for those arriving from these countries.

Thus, Kazakhstan has added Hungary, India, Germany, Czech Republic and Malaysia to the first category. There are no restrictions for passengers arriving from category 1 countries.

In turn, Egypt, Ukraine, Poland, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan were added to the second category.

The passengers arriving from second-category countries are to face a number of restrictions:

- if the passenger has a negative test result for COVID-19, there will be no restrictions

- if there is no test results, the passenger must be tested in the next 48 hours or undergo a 14-day self-quarantine at home upon arrival.

The test result for COVID-19 are valid for five days.

In March 2020, in order to prevent coronavirus spread in Kazakhstan, the number of flights was reduced by 438 flights per week on international destinations on 97 routes, which makes up 99 percent of all international flights implemented.

Additionally, all domestic flights have been canceled and no regular air services operated in the country over April 2020.

Earlier this month, Kazakhstan announced a decision to resume international flights to a number of countries. The flights are being gradually resumed to Turkey, China, South Korea, Thailand, Georgia and Japan as of Jun. 20, 2020.
