Turkmenistan, UAE consider possibility of using sea transport to promote trade, economic ties

Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) considered the possibilities of using the capabilities of the sea, rail, and air transport, using port infrastructure to promote trade and economic ties, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

This was stated during the videoconference of the third session of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UAE, which was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Turkmen side noted that it is open to cooperation in the implementation of energy and infrastructure projects, in particular the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the report says.

The parties noted the importance of the "green economy" and exchanged views on the use of sustainable energy, the promotion of innovative technologies, and expertise in the field of renewable energy. In this context, Turkmenistan expressed interest in expanding cooperation within the framework of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

The parties also expressed interest in expanding the range of cooperation between the public and private structures of the two countries. Special emphasis is placed on interaction within international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

UAE companies are actively operating in the Turkmen energy market.

As reported, earlier, the UAE's Petrofac oil and gas company expressed its readiness to continue cooperation with Turkmenistan in the development of the Galkynysh gas field.

Galkynysh field, with a total area of more than 4,000 square kilometers, includes more than 40 wells, the production rate of each reaches on average 2 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Hyundai, LG (Republic of South Korea), CNPC (China), Petrofac, Gulf Oil & Gas International Fze (UAE) were involved in the development of the Galkynysh field at different stages.
