The authorities of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan postponed resumption of passenger flights between the capitals of the two countries, Trend reports with reference to Asia-Plus information agency in Tajikistan.
In mid-October, the parties discussed the possibility of resuming flights between Dushanbe and Tashkent from November 1, then the date was postponed this to December 1.
Now authorities of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan consider resuming flights between countries on January 1, 2021.
The difficult epidemiological situation due to the coronavirus pandemic in both states does not allow the authorities to make a quick and final decision on this issue.
Earlier, the Civil Aviation Agency of Tajikistan reported that it received the go-ahead from the Republican Headquarters to Combat the Spread of Coronavirus to resume flights to Tashkent.
"The Uzbek colleagues have a corresponding decision, but the exact date of the start of air communication is still unknown. Before the start of flights, it is necessary to clarify and determine all the points, including which airlines will operate, the flights schedule and issues related to the pandemic," the Agency noted.
Earlier it was reported that air traffic between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan will be resumed on October 28 with a Tashkent-Dushanbe-Tashkent flight.
Flights between Tashkent and Dushanbe were closed on March 16 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition, Uzbekistan, along with other neighboring countries, has closed its land borders with Tajikistan since March 16.
The decision to suspend flights to Dushanbe and some other cities in the world was made by the government of Uzbekistan due to the fact that on March 15, the first four cases of charging with coronavirus were detected in the country.
