Review of main events of Azerbaijani transport sector for week

Azerbaijan’s ADY Express company transported 357,823 tons of cargo through the Astara terminal located on Iran’s territory from January through October 2020, which is by 25 percent more compared to the same period of 2019, spokesman for the company Ilham Abdulov told Trend.

Moreover, ADY Express transported 49,739 tons of cargo via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway from January through October 2020.

In accordance with the report of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, 155.5 million tons of Azerbaijani cargo were transported by all types of transport from January through October 2020.

The cargo transportation decreased by 18.8 percent in annual terms.

A big share of the total volume of cargo transportation (59.1 percent) accounted for vehicles, which amounted to 87.2 million tons.

The decrease in cargo transportation by vehicles reached 30.6 percent.

Some 29.8 percent of cargo turnover accounted for the share of pipelines. The volume of oil transportation amounted to 29.3 million tons. The volume of gas transportation reached 9.8 billion cubic meters.

Some 29.8 million tons of goods were transported through the Azerbaijani section of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) from January through September 2020.

Some 8,657 TEU containers were transported between Kazakhstan’s port of Aktau and Azerbaijan’s port of Baku (Alat) from January through October 2020, the Aktau port reported.
