By Nargiz Sadikhova – Trend:
Transtelecom JSC plans to further modify one of the largest energy-saving projects on the railways of Kazakhstan, the company told Trend.
It is about the project of an automated control system ‘energy dispatch traction’ (ACS EDT), the main goal of which is to reduce the consumption of fuel and energy resources for traction of trains, which is carried out by comprehensive automation of business processes in the locomotive economy, said the company.
In the period 2013-2015, Transtelecom JSC implemented the EDT automated control system project, during which both the equipping of locomotives and the creation of the central core of the system took place. At present, the company provides system support and maintenance of equipment installed on locomotives,” the message said.
According to the company, the created system makes it possible to automatically form a large part of the driver's route, relying on the data taken by sensors from the locomotive board, and entered from the driver's visualization unit or data collection and transmission terminals.
The paper route has now been transformed into an electronic document, which, after being processed by the accounting group, is automatically fed into the road's statistical reporting system, said the company.
Also, a platform for automated accounting of the working time of locomotive crews was built, and with the implementation of the project, it became possible to automate the accounting to control the actual runs in the context of each series of locomotives and cycles/types of their maintenance, said the message.
From the moment the EDT automated control system reached its design capacity, the consumption of diesel fuel by the railways of Kazakhstan has reached a significant and steady decline, and in a number of regions has exceeded the declared level of savings. Since 2018, the project has reached full payback, thereby confirming the effectiveness of the implemented energy-saving system, noted the company.
At the current stage of sustainable operation and a positive effect from the EDT automated control system, it is planned to further modify it in order to expand the coverage by automating business processes.
This can give the use of the data of the system, including the implementation of broad integration of the EDT ACS with other information systems of the railway, the company said.
