Georgia sees decrease in cargo turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11

The cargo turnover in the corridor of Georgia is at the level of the previous year in January 2021 and is equal to 3 million tons, of which 67 percent comes from road freight, Trend reports via the Ministry of Economy.

Road shipments have seized 2 million tons of cargo, which is identical to the January 2020 figure.

Cargo transported by rail decreased from 1 million in January 2020 to 0.9 million in January 2021.

The flow of air cargo increased slightly and amounted to 1,200 tons.

In 2020, cargo turnover in the Georgian corridor was recorded at 42.9 million tons, an annual increase of 0.6 million tons.

Cargo got reduced at ports as well.
