Georgian international airports served 105,279 passengers in three months of 2021, which is down by 85.20 percent in comparison to the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.
The airports served 711,536 passengers in 1Q2020, while the passenger number was 1.01 million in the same period of 2019. Correspondingly, the decline is 89.64 percent.
The Civil Aviation Agency explains the reason is the flight ban due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was suspended from March 2021.
Statistics for Georgian international airports (January through March 2021):
• Tbilisi International Airport served 100.094 passengers - a 79.11 percent decrease year-on-year;
• Decline amounts to almost 100 percent at Kutaisi International Airport year-on-year;
• Batumi International Airport served 3.946 passengers – a 91.70 percent decrease year-on-year.
