Weekly review of key events in Azerbaijan's transport sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

New international transit routes, which will pass through the territory of Azerbaijani liberated from Armenian occupation and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, will expand opportunities for participants in the transport and logistics sector, Trend reports.

Moreover, in the first quarter of this year, the State Road Transport Service of Azerbaijan and the relevant state bodies of foreign countries exchanged ‘permit forms’ for the further implementation of international road transport on the country’s territory, and for Azerbaijani carriers - on the territory of foreign states.

This week, Azerbaijan also reached an agreement with Turkey and Russia on passenger transportation by land.

Another important event of the week was the purchase of five Boeing 777 Freighter aircraft by the Azerbaijani Silk Way West Airlines, the delivery of which is scheduled for 2023-2027.

As reported this week, it is planned to create an infrastructure for environmentally friendly cars in Azerbaijan, in connection with which the State Road Transport Service has already prepared relevant proposals.
