Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran talk discussed the issues of coordinating the transportation of a pilot train along the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman corridor within the Ashgabat agreement, Trend reports with reference to Uzbekistan Railways JSC.

The mentioned issue was discussed during the videoconference of the delegations of the railway administrations of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran on May 4, 2021.

According to Uzbekistan Railways JSC, the online negotiations were held in accordance with the agreements reached in the previous trilateral negotiations.

In particular, the parties discussed the implementation of the protocol of the meeting of the heads of the railway administrations of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran on May 21, 2020.

It is reported that to increase the volume of cargo transportation, the parties agreed on the process of accelerating the passage of loaded railroad cars and the return of empty ones, belonging to Uzbekistan Railways JSC from the territory of Iran to the territory of Uzbekistan.

On the same day, bilateral meetings were also held between the railway administrations of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, as well as Uzbekistan and Iran.

The Ashgabat agreement is a multimodal transport agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, India, Pakistan, and Oman for creating an international transport and transit corridor facilitating transportation of goods between Central Asia and the Persian Gulf.
