Turkmenistan and Iran exchanged views on increasing sea transportation in the Caspian Sea, Trend reports with reference to Golden Age electronic newspaper.

The topic was discussed during negotiations between representatives of Turkmen Deniz Derya Yollary Agency (Turkmen State Service of Maritime and River Transportation) and the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran.

In particular, the possibilities of expanding transport cooperation between the Turkmen International Seaport of Turkmenbashi and the Iranian ports of Amirabad, Nowshahr and Enzeli were discussed.

The sides also stressed the commitment of the two countries to building up partnership in the transport and transit sector.

Iran and Turkmenistan kept their borders closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, the parties discussed issues of increasing transport traffic during a videoconference in early May.

Earlier, Turkmenistan and Iran resumed trade at the border of namesake cities of Sarakhs.
As reported, Turkmenistan allowed 30 out of 770 Iranian trucks to enter its territory said the representative of the customs service of Iran, Rouhollah Latif.
